I can hear you already “Doesn’t a Bride wear her veil for the entire wedding day?”. I don’t know about you, but we love the idea of having a gorgeous, long, flowing veil but the idea of it getting caught on things all day and possibly ruing our dos? Not so much! If you’re like us, then we’ve got some great news for you! You can still have great images with your gorgeous veil and not have to worry about it for most of the day!
We always advise our brides that the best time to actually put on your veil is right before the ceremony. There are many reasons why we recommend this:
• If you’re doing a first look, it’ll add a little something extra for your future spouse for when they see you walking down the aisle. The one hesitation we hear from our couples about doing a first look is that they don’t want it to take away from the moment of seeing each other right before walking down the aisle. When you save your veil for the ceremony, it adds a little something extra that they haven’t seen before. Not only that, but we’ve found that during the first look there tends to be lots of excitement and hugging which could lead to the veil being pulled out.
• It’s also a great way to guarantee a few minutes of extra portrait time after the ceremony. Who doesn’t want that! Everyone should have at least a few “veil blowing in the wind” shots! We love using your veil to add a little something extra to your portraits!
• Saving the veil for right before the ceremony also means that it has a smaller chance of being of being torn, stained, or otherwise damaged before the ceremony. No one wants their veil to have a huge hole in it!
• It will give you a little variety to your wedding day look! We take a lot of photos on the wedding day and it’s always nice to add in a little variety in any way we can!
