Do you ever just start talking with someone and you feel the chemistry and you know you’re going to get along great? That exactly how we felt from the moment Rachel emailed us! We knew right from her initial message once she said her and Shaun were a little nerdy and loved Star Trek that we not only had to be their photographers, but we knew we were going to become fast friends! We’re so excited to share all about their Davis Arboretum engagement.
I never get tired of saying this, but we were right! We had so much fun with them during their engagement session. But we do have a funny story about their session… The day of, we had meticulously packed our gear, charged our batteries, made sure we’d have everything we needed! We do that for every session but little did we know, this time would be different. We made the drive out to the UC Davis Arboretum, found the perfect spot, and right as we got out of the car, we noticed our keys…sitting right on the driver’s seat! Well, “it’s ok at least we have our gear, we can deal with it later!” WRONG! Adrienne’s bag was still in the backseat. To say we panicked would be an understatement! That is why we’re so glad we have two shooters. We were able to use Dani’s camera for the whole session and we actually delivered more images than we usually do for engagement sessions! So it all worked out! Whew! that gave me anxiety just thinking about it all again, so let’s get back to what’s important, Rachel & Shaun!
These two met in 2012 and they just knew there was something between them and for the next four and a half years (!!!) they would keep up a long distance relationship. After so much time apart, only seeing each other now and then, they decided they would get a ring, Shaun would come to visit at Christmas, they’d get engaged, and then they’d pack up Rachel’s tiny PT Cruiser and make the big drive out to California. Once they picked out the ring, it was delivered to Rachel in Texas and she tried it on before Shaun had ever seen it in person! Who doesn’t love a cross country romance!
