I am so excited to share this wedding on our blog today! Angela & Cassie’s pop up wedding at the UC Davis Arboretum was amazing in every way! Now, you may be asking “What in the world is a pop up wedding?!” The best way to describe it would be it’s kind of like a flash mob wedding. They had all their guests show up at the arboretum at a set time and boom! they got married right there!
After meeting with these two amazing ladies, we knew we just had to photograph their wedding! Angela had contacted us only a month before their date. Luckily that was the only weekend we had free in our calendar for at least a month. So we emailed her back right away, and we’re so glad we did! Originally, they had planned on a big lavish wedding but it just didn’t quite jive with them. It started to feel like their wedding was more about the event rather than the couple. So they knocked all their plans down to the bare bones and started over!
Angela & Cassie met 3 years ago at Angela’s place of work. Cassie had come in from San Francisco to see a friend, who just so happened to be a coworker of Angela’s. Right away, Cassie caught her eye and she knew she had to get to know her better. Not even 24 hours later and Angela would get her chance. Cassie, unfortunately, got sick and needed to go into urgent care. Angela volunteered to help her coworker and take Cassie to the hospital, and the rest is history! They had formed an instant connection and started dating.
Over the years, we’ve heard some amazing proposal stories. But this one has to be one of the best! I can’t even tell you how amazing it is, so I’ll let Angela tell it in her own words!
Wow! Best Day Ever!! It was at Dolores Park in San Francisco on Pride Weekend 2016. The park was packed that Saturday and it was all going so well. We had our friends around who came out to Pride. And the vibe of the day was filled with love. Little did I know that Cassie had it all planned out as we were sitting there surrounded by our friends and crowds of people that at 5 o’clock on the dot… my name started to get chanted. I was clueless as to why these people were calling out Angela. Then it hit me as the chanting of my name grew louder and louder, and as I looked around at the massive amount of people looking at me… I turned to look at Cassie and when I did… there she was, down on one knee… with a ring in her hand and a huge smile on her face and asking me if I’d marry her! And without any hesitation… I said, YES! And the hundreds of people who stood around us and engulfed us with love and support and for those that didn’t know us, were at that very moment… happy for our happiness and excited for our love and it was truly amazing! Again… BEST DAY EVER!!
Their wedding day was just as beautiful! Angela looked stunning from head to toe, and bouquet by Inspirations By Gina was just to die for! And Cassie was a knockout in her suit! We’re always suckers for a matching vest/bowtie combo. Their ceremony was quick and small, but it felt like their love filled the entire arboretum. These two were just so happy and so in love with each other, it really was an honor to be a part of their wedding day. Angela & Cassie, we both just wanted to say congratulations again! We couldn’t be happier for you both and we wish you many, many, many more years of happiness together!
