It’s not every wedding where the first dance includes a sweet lightsaber battle! Oh yeah you read that right! Gwenith & John’s Bishops Pumpkin Farm wedding was definitely one we won’t soon forget! From the Star Wars/LOTR & Hobbit references to the super sweet toasts from their closest family and friends, we we’re so honored to be a part of their amazing wedding.
One of our favorite parts of the wedding day is finding out all the details that make each wedding unique and special just to that couple and Gwenith & John’s wedding did not disappoint! While getting into her dress we found out that the perfect pearl necklace that she had chosen to wear was given to her by her aunt when she was just a little one. The family heirlooms didn’t stop there either! During the cake cutting, we found out that the cake server that they cut their cake with was the same one used at Gwenith’s parents wedding 30 years ago!
You can tell just how loved these two are just by looking at the size of their bridal party! It was quite the feat taking the girls out and about for photos without the boys taking a sneak peek but thankfully they were all too distracted to even notice the girls walking around. We’re pretty sure Gwenith is some kind of superhero because while getting ready she had told us that she had hand made all of her and her bridesmaids bouquets. They looked fantastic and believe us when we said they smelled heavenly!
Their ceremony was held at El Rancho Del Amor on the farm grounds. Shaded by a 200 year old oak tree, Gwenith’s father officiated the ceremony while her bridesmaids walked down the aisle to she walked down the aisle to “Reunion of Friends” from the Harry Potter soundtrack and she walked down the aisle to “Concerning Hobbits” from the LOTR soundtrack. We never get tired of watching a Groom see his bride for the first time, and John did not disappoint! His face lit up the moment he saw her and we’re pretty sure he had a permanent smile glued to his face throughout the entire ceremony.
One of our most favorite parts of the day had to be all the special dances at their reception. Not only their first dance, which was the perfect mix of romance and nerdliess (yes that is totally a word!) but their father/daughter and mother/son dances just melted our hearts! Gwenith’s father had the biggest smile on his face as him and his little girl danced and sang along to the music. John’s mother just could not stop giggling the entire time and you could just see how proud of her son she was.
