Ah 2014… we were so busy this year, it felt like it had just flown by. Not only did we jump to shooting 11 weddings this year, but we photographed 2 birthday parties, several other events, and a few portrait sessions! In between all of that craziness, we would also shoot engagement sessions for our 2015 couples. 2014 was so fast-paced for us and we were so grateful to be so busy! Let’s jump right into all of our 2014 weddings!
Maren & Robert
We started off the year with a very special wedding. Maren is Dani’s sister! As Dani says “It was very interesting both being in the wedding party and photographing it, but we made it work!”
Talk about time flying by, Maren & Robert didn’t want to wait to get married. They had both decided that a long engagement just wasn’t for them, deciding to get married in just one month. I know, I know… I can practically hear the gasps from those of you who have actually planned a wedding before! But somehow, everything went great and their wedding day was so beautiful.
Cristina & David
OMG where to start with these two?! Cristina and David are seriously one of the sweetest couples we’ve worked with! When we met with them they had mentioned that their wedding was going to be super intimate, just their closest family and friends and while they didn’t have a super huge budget, they just had to work with us. They were so cute and just totally head over heels in love with each other. Our favorite part of their day was having Cristina’s mom facetime in for the wedding all the way from Spain.
Kelly & Jon
Kelly and Jon’s wedding was our first morning wedding that we had done. It was such a strange feeling to be finished photographing before the sun had set! But, it made us realize that we love morning time weddings just as much as evening weddings. We couldn’t get enough of Kelly’s glitter heels and instead of settling on just one wedding cake, these two opted for a whole dessert bar!
Kara & Michael
This wedding was a dream for us! Not only was it at a gorgeous venue, but Kara and Michael had chosen a Harry Potter theme for the whole wedding! Now, if you know us, we’re kinda nerds and love all things Harry Potter! Our favorite part had to be the bridesmaids posing with all the books!
Pearl & Anthony
Truth be told, we were crazy nervous about Pearl & Anthony’s wedding. They are photographers themselves and for some reason, we were nervous about photographing another photographer’s wedding. Once we started their day though, those fears quickly melted away! They were so laid back and just happy to be getting married. We remember being so scared it was going to rain for their wedding ceremony. They had planned for their ceremony to be outside at the UC Davis Arboretum but didn’t really have a rain backup plan. Thankfully right before their ceremony, the clouds parted and the sun came out giving their ceremony a gorgeous sunlit glow.
Samantha & Thomas
Yet another micro wedding before COVID! Samantha and Thomas invited only their closest friends and family to share in their wedding day. And it was truly and intimate affair! They had their reception at a small restaurant downtown, sharing a cozy dinner with their guests.
Kathy & Brian
Yet another special wedding for us! Brian had been the music teacher at the same school my father taught and Dani and I had both spent our high school years taking the same band class as Brian’s son. It was such an honor to get to be a part of their wedding day and get to know more about their family.
Amber & Dave
This wedding you guys! Can we just talk about the Delta King?! Not only is it a piece of California History, but it is such an incredible wedding venue! We remember having tons of fun walking around Old Sacramento for their couples portraits and petting the horses that were pulling the carriages.
Breanna & Troy
Breanna & Troy was our first Catholic Church wedding. While it wasn’t too much different from other wedding days, it was interesting to see the differences. To this day our minds are still blown that they had both made their own wedding cake. And just look at Breanna’s bouquet! Stunning!
Sarah & Brian
Sarah & Brian had the most perfect fall wedding! Their venue was surrounded by trees with changing leaves and their wedding colors just gave off the best fall vibes! Their venue was super cute with a charming bridge that was the perfect spot for their couples portraits.
Jenn & Tony
We could go on and on (and on) about how much we love these two. And we just might! At their engagement session, we bonded over our shared love of the muppets. For their wedding day, Jenn even had custom shoes made with muppets on them! Love! Our favorite moment from their wedding day hands down was when Tony saw Jenn walking down the aisle. He totally lost it and we’re pretty sure there wasn’t a dry eye in the place!
Phew, that was a long one! We’re so grateful to each and every one of these incredible couples. We felt so blessed and so honored that they trusted us to capture and preserve their memories for them. 2014 was a whirlwind but we had no idea that things were about to pick up even more and we’d be even busier next year.
